Amidst the thickly-wooded hills in Chittoor district lays the temple town of Tirumala with Tirupati at the foothills, the abode of Lord Venkateswara. The range of hills is said to resemble a snake with Tirumala forming the hood. Lord Venkateswara, the residing god, is known as ‘Lord of the Seven Hills’ and ‘Balaji’. Tirupati and Tirumala today are modern destinations of pilgrim tourists. Not only the bliss of a divine 'darshan' but added attractions provided by nature make them the ideal pilgrimage-cum-holiday destination. Lord Venkateswara Temple
The Temple of Balaji at Tirmula hills is famous the world over and millions of pilgrims from across the globe visit the temple annually. The temple, which finds mention in ancient texts, was patronized by the Pallavas, Pandyas, Cholas, the Vijayanagar ruler and the Maharaja of Mysore.

Swami Pusharini

Chandra Giri

The Vijayanagar Empire contributed vastly to Telgu culture, art and literature. The Last capital of the Vijayanagar kings was Chandragiri on the banks of the River Swarnamukhi in Chittoor District. 12 km from the temple town of Tirupati.

Kanipakam

This is an 11th century Vinayaka temple and pecuriarity is that idol seems to be growing in size. A ‘Kawacham’ (breast plate) made for the idol half a century ago has become too small for it now. Kanipakam is about 70 km from Tirupati and 12 km from Chittoor.

Kailasnathakona

Kailasanathakona water falls are situated in the valley of Nagiri hills near Puttur. The water here is said to be rich in minerals and possess curative properties. Hence this place is called Kailasanathakona which is a picnic, scenic and pituresque spot.

Sri Kalahasti

The temple of Shiva in the form of a ‘Vayulinga’ lies 36 km from Tirupati. According to lelend, a spider (Sri) spum a web over the Linga, Kala, anake, placed a gematop it and Hasti, an elephant, brought water in its trunk to wash the Linga. All three ardent worshippers of Shiva.
