After breakfast visit Old Delhi. It was an ancient walled city. Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan in 1650 switched the Mughal capital from Agra to Delhi. Shah Jehan possessing an exquisite talent, especially in architecture, created the seventh city and in the process brought about Delhi's glorious renaissance. Here you will see Red Fort, the most opulent Fort and Palace of the Mughal Empire. The fort is Shah Jehan's symbol of power and elegance, built behind red sandstone walls. Its main gate (Lahore Gate) faces Chandni Chowk, the perpetually congested avenue heading west from the Red Fort, is filled with twisting lanes, small streets and crowded bazaars. If you peer through a portico you may see a man getting shaved, silver being weighed, or any other conceivable form of intense commerce. In 1911 King George V announced the transfer of the capital from Calcutta to Delhi. The King's architects, Lutyens and Baker, set in motion the Design and construction of Delhi's eight cities - New Delhi. Lutyens designed an "Imperial City" having palatial-sized buildings set amid broad tree-lined avenues punctuated by Mughal style gardens, complete with fountains and shallow pools. It took 20 years to complete this immense undertaking only to have the British pack up and relinquish the subcontinent in 1947. Morning transfer to railway station to board the train for Amritsar. Breakfast on board. Upon arrival, check into the hotel. In the afternoon, visit Wagha Border, it is an interesting experience especially at sunset when the retreat ceremony takes place with the BSF on the Indian side & the Satluj Rangers on the Pakistan side putting up a well- coordinated and spectacular display, which compares very favorably with the changing of the Guard in London. After breakfast transfer to the railway station to board the train to Jammu. Upon arrival in Jammu, our representative will meet you at the station. Drive to Srinagar which is 293 kms. Upon arrival, check into the hotel. Rest & relax. Overnight stay at the hotel.
In the morning, enjoy half day tour of world famous Mughal gardens visiting Nishat (The garden of pleasure) built by Asaf Jah in 1636 AD and Shamilar Bagh (Abode of Love) built by Jehangir for his beloved Nur Jahan in 1619 AD. Afternoon, visit Srinagar Old city Jamia Masjid, Shah-e-Hamdan mosque, Srinagar Museum and enjoy the walking through the narrow bazaar of the city. Overnight at the houseboat.
Today, proceed for the full day drive to Kargil. After Sonmarg, you start steep ascending most rough road and wet Zojila pass 3527 mtrs known as “Gateway of Ladakh”, continue drive towards Drass, second coldest place in the world. Here we stop for tea and passport check. Another two and half hours drive will take us to Kargil. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Full day drive to Uleytokpo and we have to cross highest pass on Srinagar-Leh route Fotu La 13749 fts. On the way visit Mulbek and Lamayuru monastery, one of the oldest monastery in Ladakh region. Continue drive to Uleytokpo. In the late afternoon one may visit Rizong monastery by foot 5 kms to and fro. Overnight at tent.
After breakfast, drive to Alchi Monastery and continue drive to Leh via some interesting buddhist villages. Afternoon free for personal activities. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Today, enjoy full day excursion; visit Thiksey monastery, it is quite interesting to visit the monastery early in the morning to see praying ceremony and visit one of the biggest Monastery of Leh “Hemis”. On the way back visit Shey Palace. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Today morning, proceed for the half day tour of Spituk and Phyang monasteries. In the afternoon, visit Kings Palace, Leh Mosque, Leh Gompa, and Sankar Gompa. Overnight at the hotel.
Today, proceed for full day drive to Sarchu via Upshi and we have to cross second highest motorable pass in the world (Taglang La pass 5350 mtrs.) Enjoy the natural beauty of the mountains, there are chance to see tiny colonies of marmots, yaks & herbs. At Pang, we stop for lunch, continue drive to Lachulung La pass 5065 mtrs rugged in the middle of the mountains. Arrive Sarchu. Tonight our camp will be at 4200 mtrs. and it will be the coldest night during the whole tour. Overnight at tent.
Sarchu is the border line between Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. After 20 Kms drive, we enter into Himachal Pradesh and we reach Bara-lacha la pass 4883 mtrs. Here on the top there is a lake known as Suraj Tal lake and we will meet first village at Darcha after Rumtse. One may visit to Dalai Lama monastery which has been recently built during the Kalachakra programme. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, leave for Manali. After short drive we reach Keylong, the head district in this area and we will stop here for one hour to visit around the local bazaar and continue drive to Manali. After reaching Khoksar, we stop for passport checking and lunch. Continue ascending towards Rohtang pass 3978 mtrs., and we dip into Manali region. Another 51 kms drive will take us to Manali. Overnight saty at the hotel.
Today visit 400 years old Pagoda temple of Hadimba Devi and old Manali to see the Manu temple. Afternoon one can visit the Vashisht hot water spring. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast drive to Chandigarh. Upon arrival, rest & relax. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Transfer to railway station to board the train for Delhi. Breakfast on board or drive from Chandigarh to Delhi.
