Delhi stands as the capital of Modern India. Here you can see the mingling of the Old and New India, the ancient and the modern. Delhi is made up of seven ancient cities, spanning the period from the 11th to 20th centuries. Delhi has seen the rise and fall of many emperors, which have left behind a plethora of monuments that commemorate the grandeur and glory of bygone ages. Very few cities in the world can express such a profusion of architectural styles. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Delhi

After breakfast visit Old Delhi. It was an ancient walled city. Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan in 1650 switched the Mughal capital from Agra to Delhi. Shah Jehan possessing an exquisite talent, especially in architecture, created the seventh city and in the process brought about Delhi's glorious renaissance. Here you will see Red Fort, the most opulent Fort and Palace of the Mughal Empire. The fort is Shah Jehan's symbol of power and elegance, built behind red sandstone walls. Its main gate (Lahore Gate) faces Chandni Chowk, the perpetually congested avenue heading west from the Red Fort, is filled with twisting lanes, small streets and crowded bazaars. If you peer through a portico you may see a man getting shaved, silver being weighed, or any other conceivable form of intense commerce.

In the afternoon, visit New Delhi. It was designed and built by the British in the 1920's-it's a city of wide boulevards impressive Government buildings, green parks and gardens. In 1911 King George V announced the transfer of the capital from Calcutta to Delhi. The King's architects, Lutyens and Baker, set in motion the Design and construction of Delhi's eight cities - New Delhi. Lutyens designed an "Imperial City" having palatial-sized buildings set amid broad tree-lined avenues punctuated by Mughal style gardens, complete with fountains and shallow pools. It took 20 years to complete this immense undertaking only to have the British pack up and relinquish the subcontinent in 1947. You will visit two monuments from Delhi's past - Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar. drive pass through the Raisina Hill, ceremonial avenue past the imposing India Gate, Government Buildings, President House and Parliament House. Also visit Sikh Gurudwara Bangla Sahib to see the worship etc. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Delhi - Dibrugarh

Morning transfer to the airport to board flight for Dibrugarh. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. After lunch go for a Tea tour. In the evening, enjoy a cultural programme performed by ethic Assamese dance group (Tea factories are functional from march to December only). Overnight stay at the hotel.

Dibrugarh - Digboi - Dibrugarh 166 kms / 4 hrs

Early morning drive to river front and take a Boat cruise. Cruise up to a beach island in the midst of the river. En route there is a possibility of your sighting flocks of migratory water birds and elusive gangetic river dolphin. After breakfast drive to Digboi (90 kms / 2 hrs). Visit the Oil museum which was set up to mark the 100th anniversary of the Digboi oil refinery. Visit Digboi war commentary (closed on every Monday and Friday) . Also visit an ethnic tribal village like Tai Phake. Return to Dibrugarh by evening and overnight stay at the hotel.

Dibrugarh - Jorhat 135 kms / 4 hrs

Moring drive to Jorhat, en route stop at Sivasagar. Arrive Jorhat and checks in at the hotel. In the evening enjoy a Satriya dance performance. The largest and the oldest amphitheatre of Asia (Rang ghar) is also another remarkable landmark in the history of Sivasagar. The Tai-Ahom museum of Sivasagar contains the relics of the ahom period like –swords, clothes, manuscripts and sundry artifacts. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Jorhat - Kaziranga National Park

Morning excursion to Majuli island and afternoon drive to Kaziranga. Drive a short distance to Neematighat (12 kms /20 min.) for ferry crossing to Majuli- the largest inhabited river island in the world and famous for the Vaishnavite Satras or monasteries, visit the monasteries and later check in at the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Kaziranga

Early morning, go for an Elephant safari to the central range of the park followed by a Jeep safari. Then enjoy your breakfast. Post lunch visit the eastern range of the park by jeep. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Kaziranga - Shillong 224 kms / 5 hrs

In the morning depart for Shillong. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Shillong

In the morning, proceed for a day return excursion to Cherrapunji. Cherrapunjee’s numerous falls are most impressive during the steamy monsoon season when awesome torrents of water plunge down to the plains of Bangladesh. At Cherrapunji, explore the limestones caves Scott trail. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Shillong

Have your breakfast. Full day at leisure or free to explore Shillong. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Shillong - Guwahati 98 kms / 2h 30m

In the morning, depart for Guwahati. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel. Afternoon visit the Kamakhya temple. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Guwahati - Delhi

Transfer to the airport to board the flight for Delhi. Arrive Delhi and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day is free. Late evening, transfer to the airport to board the flight for your journey back home.
