Delhi - Leh

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out and transfer to the airport to board the flight to Leh. On arrival, our representative will meet and assist you at the airport. Later transfer and check into the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Leh

After breakfast, proceed for a tour of Leh and see its ancient monuments and Buddhist sites. After lunch, visit the Shanti Stupa, inaugurated in 1983 by H.H.Dalai Lama, the peace Pagoda, whose sides are decorated with gilt panels depicting episodes from the life of Buddha, is one of the several monuments erected around India by peace sect of Japanese Buddhists. Then drive to the Sankar Monastery, The Gompa (Monastery in local language), contains a formidable collection of miniature statues of pure gold and ancient paintings (called Thangkas) also done with gold. Return back to hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Leh - Hemis - Thiksey - Shey - Leh 79 kms / 2 hrs

After breakfast proceed for a tour of the Hemis Gompa, the biggest and the wealthiest in Ladakh. Around the monastery you will see Shortens or Buddhist reliquaries and ornate walls. Thiksey Monastery located on a hilltop with formidable views of the Indus valley. Within the monastery you can see many beautiful Buddhist artifacts. Shey Palace, the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. Return back to your hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Leh – Alchi 65 kms / 1h 30m

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Alchi, 70 kms west of Leh, south of the village of Saspol. On arrival at Uletokpo camp, check-in and followed with lunch. Later proceed for a tour of Alchi monastery, Alchi's large temple complex founded in the 11th century is regarded as one of the most important Buddhist centers in Ladakh and a jewel of monastic skill. You will also have an opportunity to witness villagers using primitive methods to grind the wheat along the road side. Overnight at camp.

Alchi - Lamayuru – Alchi 131 kms / 3 hrs

After breakfast, drive to Lamayuru. Lamayuru monastery, founded, properly called Yung-drung(Swastika) founded in the 11th century perched on a spur high above the valley bottom just off the main road, it is one of the most spectacularly picturesque gompa (Gompa means Monetary in local language) in central Ladakh, as it descends from the Fa-tula to KhalatsesetLamayuru, properly called Yung-drung (Swastika) is believed to be the oldest in central Ladakh and to have been the holy place of the Bon-chos the advent of Buddhism. Overnight at camp.

Alchi - Rizong - Likir - Leh 84 kms / 2 hrs

Morning proceed to visit Ridzong Monastery, is the only Nunnery Monastery in Ladakh. Ridzong is a nunnery, where Buddhist nuns reside. Breakfast at the hotel. Later drive for Leh. Enroute visit the Likir Monastery set up on a hill top of a low hill, it was re-founded in the 15th century by the Gelupa Sect (Yellow Sect). Later we resume our drive along the Indus River. Lunch at the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Leh - Saboo – Leh 15 kms / 30 mins

After breakfast drive to Saboo village to see the village life of Ladakh. Visit the Local Buddhist house to see the private chapels and also visit the traditional Kitchen and get a demonstration of preparing Gur Gur tea or butter tea. Back to Leh and enjoy shopping and sightseeing. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Leh - Stok - Leh 27 kms / 45 mins

Breakfast at the hotel. Later proceed to visit Stok Palace, the former residence of the Royal family of Ladakh. Visit the museum at the palace where royal family’s heirlooms and artifacts are displayed. Then visit tour the Ladakh Handicraft Center, After that travel to Choglamsar, which is the largest settlement of Tibetan refugee. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Leh - Delhi

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out and transfer to the international airport to board the flight for Delhi. On arrival, our representative will meet and assist you at the airport. Later transfer and check into the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Delhi

After breakfast visit Old Delhi. It was an ancient walled city. Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan in 1650 switched the Mughal capital from Agra to Delhi. Shah Jehan possessing an exquisite talent, especially in architecture, created the seventh city and in the process brought about Delhi's glorious renaissance. Here you will see Red Fort, the most opulent Fort and Palace of the Mughal Empire. The fort is Shah Jehan's symbol of power and elegance, built behind red sandstone walls. Its main gate (Lahore Gate) faces Chandni Chowk, the perpetually congested avenue heading west from the Red Fort, is filled with twisting lanes, small streets and crowded bazaars. If you peer through a portico you may see a man getting shaved, silver being weighed, or any other conceivable form of intense commerce.

In the afternoon, visit New Delhi. It was designed and built by the British in the 1920's-it's a city of wide boulevards impressive Government buildings, green parks and gardens. In 1911 King George V announced the transfer of the capital from Calcutta to Delhi. The King's architects, Lutyens and Baker, set in motion the Design and construction of Delhi's eight cities - New Delhi. Lutyens designed an "Imperial City" having palatial-sized buildings set amid broad tree-lined avenues punctuated by Mughal style gardens, complete with fountains and shallow pools. It took 20 years to complete this immense undertaking only to have the British pack up and relinquish the subcontinent in 1947. You will visit two monuments from Delhi's past - Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar. drive pass through the Raisina Hill, ceremonial avenue past the imposing India Gate, Government Buildings, President House and Parliament House. Also visit Sikh Gurudwara Bangla Sahib to see the worship etc. Overnight stay at the hotel.
