Delhi

Arrive Delhi - The Capital of India. You are greeted with a traditional Indian Welcome and escorted transfer to hotel. In the afternoon you will be taken to National Museum where you will see the finest collection of Indian antiquities and artefacts. Tonight you will be hosted a welcome dinner when you will also be familiarized with the tour.

Delhi

Start the day with Old Delhi was an ancient walled city. Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan in 1650 switched the Mughal capital from Agra to Delhi. Here you will view Red Fort, the most Opulent Fort and Palace of the Mughal Empire. Also visit Raj Ghat, the memorial site of the Mahatma Gandhi; Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India; and Chandni Chowk, the bustling and colorful market of the old city. New Delhi Lutyens designed an "Imperial City" having Palatial-sized buildings set amid broad tree-lined avenues punctuated by Mughal style gardens, complete with fountains and shallow pools. Visit to Qutub Minar. Drive pass through the Raisina Hill, past the imposing India Gate and Parliament House. Evening return to the Red Fort to watch the “Son et Lumire” show which is Interplay of colorful lights and sound tracing the history of monument till date. Overnight stay

Khajuraho

This morning you will take a flight to Khajuraho. Overnight will be at Khajuraho.

Agra

Your day starts in the morning when you will be driven to Jhansi railway station for your train to Agra. En route to Khajuraho you will visit sleepy medieval town of Orchha which is littered with medieval Bundelkhand buildings bearing fusion of Mughal and Rajput architecture. You will arrive in Agra in the evening and retire for the day.

Agra

Today you will do sight-seeing tour of Agra. Afternoon visit to Agra Fort built by Akbar the Great and the city. Also visit the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah built by Empress Noor Jehan in the memory of Her Father. Enjoy the Magnificent Taj Mahal – The Monument of Love in the warm glow of Sunset, which was built in 1630 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a tomb for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1631, and is believed to have taken 18 years to complete, with over 20,000 craftsmen working around the clock. Its marble exterior reflects rose and golden tints at sunrise and sunset, while it is dazzling white during the day.

Jaipur

Drive to Jaipur via visit the ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri, built in 1569 by the Great Emperor Akbar. Today, it is deserted and left in solitude to reminisce over its past glory. On today’s drive to Jaipur through the Rajasthani countryside we see villages, woman dressed in the brilliantly colored saris of the region, Camels, Elephants & scenes of rural lives.

Jaipur

Morning visit the 17th century fortress of Amber Fort - marvelous example of Rajput architecture with its terraces and ramparts reflected in the Maota Lake below. Go up the fort ascended on Caparisoned Elephant true to the style of the Maharajas of the past. The interiors of the fort have various royal halls decorated with intricate ivory, mirror and glasswork complemented by exquisite wall paintings.

Afternoon visit to Maharaja’s City Palace - where you can see an imposing blend of traditional Rajasthani and Mughal Art. The museum is resplendent with its collection of robes of royal princes, carpets, an armory of old weapons, miniature paintings portraying court scenes, battle scenes and processions, Jantar Mantar (an accurate observatory built in 1726 A.D.), Birla White Marble Temple and Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) - a five storied wonder with a spectacular pyramidal facade and overhanging windows with latticed screens, domes and spires.

Jodhpur

Jodhpur

Today sightseeing of the city includes visit to Meherangarh Fort – stands atop a 125 meter high hill dominating the city’s skyline. It is one of the most impressive and formidable fort of the country, drive through the old city and past the Clock Tower near the largest spice bazaar in the sub-continent, visit the Jaswant Thada Cenotaph – the memorial of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, built in 1899 in white marble near the fort is noteworthy for its superb architecture, the royal cremation site and then proceed to see the most magnificent, modern 20th century Palace, the Umaid Bhavan Palace and its museum – a treasure trove. Overnight stay.

Udaipur

Today, you drive to Udaipur. You will arrive in Udaipur late in the afternoon. The rest of the day will be at leisure.

Udaipur

After breakfast drive to Udaipur – the “City of Lakes” is perhaps the most romantic and beautiful cities of India. In contrast to its desert neighborhood it stands out with an enchanting image of white marble palaces, placid blue lakes, gardens and temples surrounded by hills and mountains. Maharana Udai Singh founded it in 1559 A.D. on the shored of Lake Pichola overnight stay. The tour of Udaipur will end with a lunch at the beautiful Gallery Restaurant at Fateh Prakash Palace.

Aurangabad

Today, you will be escorted to the airport for your flight to Bombay where you will arrive to connect to your flight for Aurangabad (Depending on the flight timings you will be given a brief tour of the commercial capital of India). You will arrive Aurangabad late in the evening and check into the hotel to retire for the day.

Aurangabad

Today you will explore the caves of Ajanta which offer a rich tapestry of images that speak of palaces, royalty, cultures and tales of everyday life of ancient India. Long buried in the debris of time, these 30 caves were built to offer seclusion to the Buddhist monks, who lived, taught and performed rituals.

Mumbai

This morning you will be taken to explore Ellora caves. Carved between fourth and fifth century, the rock temples and monasteries of Ellora represent the three major faiths of India - Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. Like Ajanta, Ellora caves too are a fine example of cave temples with almost 34 caves with intricate interiors and ornamental facades.

Madurai

Continuing your tour to South India you will fly in the morning to Madurai where you arrive before noon. All activity in Madurai is centered round Sri Meenakshi Temple in the heart of the told town. A riotously baroque example of Dravidian architecture, you visit the temple in the afternoon.

Chettinad

After a leisurely start today you drive to Chettinad which is known for its artistic houses. Spend the afternoon exploring the palace and around for its unique architecture. Overnight will be at Madurai.

Tanjore / Trichy

This morning you will drive to Tanjore. Also called a city of temples, Tanjore is dotted with no fewer than 74 temples - the most famous of which is the Brihadeshwara temple. You visit this fascinating temple and the Thanjavur Palace before continuing your drive to Trichy. In the evening you explore the city including spectacular Rock Fort Temple.

Chennai

This morning you take a train ride to Madras - your last destination of the tour. Madras is a fascinating city with its ancient temples and unique culture, golden sandy beaches and a marvelous tradition of music and dance. You explore this lovely city in the afternoon, immediately after arriving at the station. After the short city tour you will check into your hotel which is a beach hotel outside Madras city.

Chennai

Today will be spent in visiting two of the finest examples of ancient South Indian architecture - Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram.

Chennai

The day will be spent in leisure. In the evening you will be hosted a farewell dinner before being escorted to the domestic terminal for flight to Delhi for return.
