Siddharth Gautama, born & grew up in Kapilvastu amidst luxury and splendour. At the age of 29th, he left earthly distraction behind, to begin his quest for the true meaning of life- a search that took the land of Magadha. At Bodhgaya, after years of penance and deprivation, he attained “Enlightement” under the sacred Bodhi tree-to become Buddha. In the fabled deer park at Sarnath, the Buddha preached his first sermon. He then travelled widely preaching his philosophy. At the age of 80, in the forest of Kapilnagar, he entered perfect tranquilly-the state of “Parinirvana” Lumbini. Bodhgaya, Sarnath, Kushinagar- these sacred places of Buddha continue the legacy of this remarkable being who practiced and preached pease, purity and love. Delhi stands as the capital of Modern India. Here you can see the mingling of the Old and New India, the ancient and the modern. Delhi is made up of seven ancient cities, spanning the period from the 11th to 20th centuries. After breakfast, proceed to airport for Patna. Drive to Bodhgaya, where the Buddha attained enlightenment and which is one of the most sacred pilgrimage places for the Buddhist. En route visit Nalanda and Rajgir. Nalanda is a great centre of Buddhist learning and one of the most famed university citadels of ancient times. Rajgir was once the capital of the powerful kingdom of Maghada. From the outskirts of Rajgir, a historic road leads to gridha Kuta or vultures peak where the preached, here the first buddhist council was held after the Lord’s Mahaparinirvana. After breakfast depart for the sightseeing of Bodhgaya. Here under the Bodhi Tree, Shakyamuni Gautama attained supreme knowledge to become Buddha, “the Enlightened one” the propounder of one of the great religions of the world. River Nirajnana in which the Buddha bathed after attaining enlightenment flows quietly outside the tiny hamlet. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Morning leave Bodhgaya for Varanasi by surface. Later, excursion to Sarnath the place Lord Buddha gave its sermon. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Early morning boat ride on the river ganges to see the sun rise and the bathing ghats of an ancient hindu city & blessing from Kashi Vishwanath temple. Later, leave Varanasi for Kushinagar. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Morning visit to Mahaparinirvana Temple and Ramabhar stupa. Later drive to Lumbini by surface 170 kms./4 hrs. Sightseeing of Lumbini where the Lord was born. Visit the pillar raised by Emperor Ashok, In the twenty first year after his coronation at the birthplace. Proceed to Balrampur. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Leave Balrampur for Lucknow, en route visit Shravasti (Sahet-Mahet), capital of the ancient kingdom of Kosala, an active centre for Buddhism. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Leave Lucknow for Delhi by air. Day at leisure. Half day sightseeing of old and New Delhi visiting Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Qutab Minar and the Secretarial Buildings. Overnight stay at the hotel.
