Arrive Chennai - Mahabalipuram

Arrival Chennai upon arrival meet and greet by our representative & you will be transferred to Mahabalipuram, situated on the east coast of Tamil Nadu. Here time stands still and presents meet the past. A serene town nested amidst the historical stone sculptures and medieval architecture, that stands witness to the rich heritage – Mahabalipuram the finest of historical monuments can be seen at Mamallapuram with splendid specimens of Pallava art, which flourished from about 600-750 AD. The sculptures are breathtakingly real and artistic. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Mahabalipuram

Today we will see Arjuna’s Penance (Descent of Ganges) – 0.1 km tee face of a huge whale shaped rock has been carved into a vast panel of relief sculptures depicting the mythological story of the river Ganges issuing from its source high in the Himalayas. Another version is that it depicts Arjuna’s Penance to obtain a boon from Lord Shiva. This bas-relief, which is the largest and finest of its kind (27 meters long and 9 meters high), has animals, gods and celestial beings besides fables from the well-known panchatantra, sculptured on it with remarkable realism. Also visit Krishna Mandapam- situated within a radius of 1 km of the rock cut examples at Mamallapuram; the Mandapams (shallow halls resembling porticos) are conspicuous for their design and execution, Mahishasuramardini cave, Pancha Rathas, Shore Temple - 1 km the final phase of Pallava art at Mamallapuram is to be seen in the beautiful shore temple, which is assigned to the late seventh century when Rajasimha was the king. One of the unique features of the temple is the construction of two shrines for Shiva and Vishnu.

Evening transfer to Chennai central railway station to board the train. Overnight journey by the train.

Mahabalipuram - Mettupalayam - Coonoor

Your train reaches Mettupalayam. From there board the UNESCO world Heritage Toy Train. The Nilgiri mountain railway is located in India's southern state of Tamil Nadu. It runs from Mettupalayam to Udagamandalam (Ooty), via Coonoor, in the Nilgiri Hills. The track is 46 kilometers (28.5 miles) long, and passes over 250 bridges (including 32 major ones) and through 16 tunnels. The most spectacular scenery and best views are situated along the stretch from Mettupalayam to Coonoor which is 30 kms and cover in 3.20 hrs, This journey is particularly picturesque because of the surrounding rocky terrain, ravines, tea plantations, and forested hills. Coonoor, with its world famous teas, is a tourist destination in itself. After reaching Coonoor transfer to the hotel.

Afternoon visit to Ketti- it is a large valley in the Nilgiris and a town as well. It is one the most beautiful sightseeing places in Ooty. Ketti Valley is a home to several tribes, such as Todas and Badagas. These tribal people are experts in cultivating fresh vegetables and fruits in the valley. There are over 14 villages in this valley that belong to the tribes of Badagas.

Ketti valley is a heaven for nature lovers and photographers. It is one of the most visited tourist sites of Ooty. It offers one of the best views of the valley. Nature lovers, adventurists, experience seekers and even casual travellers will love the view from the Ketti valley viewpoint. There is also a telescope room to get a closer view of the valley and surroundings. Overnight stay.

Coonoor

After breakfast visit to Doddabetta Peak, the Nilgiri region is renowned for its tea and most of the areas in Ooty are surrounded with the tea plantation. The tea estate or plantation is one of the attractions and you can a walk in the tea estate which gives them peacefully. The place which is most popular for its tea estates is Glenmorgan, which is one of the old tea estates and also Glenmorgan is one of the famous picnic spots.

In Ooty, there are own tea factories for their tea plantations. The tourist is even allowed inside the tea factories. You can snap photographs and make it as a memorable moment in your lifetime, so that you can enjoy the view of the tea estate.

The establishment of several numbers of tea estates made Ooty famous. Most of the hotels, resorts, cottages are all located near tea estates because it gives a wonderful view to the tourist. Overnight stay.

Coonoor - Mettupalayam - Chennai

Morning is free to enjoy the hotel surrounding. Later transfer to Coonoor station to board the Nilgiri mountain toy train. Upon arrival at Mettupalayam, you change the platform to board the train. Overnight journey by first class air condition cabin or you can take the flight from Coimbatore to Chennai. Overnight stay.

Chennai

Today drive to Chennai central station. Upon arrival transfer to the airport to board the flight for onward destination.
