DETAILED ITINERARY :- 7 Nights/8 Days

Delhi - Paro - Thimphu - Mendegang - Gangtey Gompa - Mendegang - Paro - Delhi

DAY 01 DELHI-PARO-THIMPHU
Assemble at IGI Airport to board Druk Air flight for Paro. The
flight into Paro can be truly described as a flight into fantasy. A first
hand, close up view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga and other famous peaks
becomes a reality. Met upon arrival. Proceed to Thimphu(approx. 2 hrs.
drive), the capital of Bhutan which lies at elevation of 7,500 feet in a
fertile valley transversed by the Thimphu Chhu river. Check in - Dinner and
overnight at hotel.
DAY 02 THIMPHU
After breakfast visit to the National Library which hosts a vast
collection of ancient Buddhist manuscripts - the School of Thangkha Painting
and the Traditional Medicine Institute. After Lunch, Sightseeing of
Dechenchholing valley and witness the gold and silver smiths at work. Dinner
and overnight at hotel.
DAY 03 THIMPHU
After Breakfast a visit to the weekly local market and experience
the ambience of the vegetable bazaar - the Memorial Chorten of his Late
Majesty, King Jigme Dorje Wangchuk - the Tashichho Dzong, National Assembly.
After Lunch a visit to the Handicrafts Emporium, to see the exquisite
artistry of traditional crafts and textiles. Evening at leisure in town for
shopping. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 04 THIMPHU-MENDEGANG
After Breakfast a 2 hrs. drive to Mendegang across the Dochula
Pass(alt. 3100 m.)-short halt for tea and refreshments at Dochula. Check in-
After Lunch a drive to Punakha Dzong-the Punokha High School. Dinner and
overnight at hotel
DAY 05 MENDEGANG-GANGTEY GOMPA-MENDEGANG
After Breakfast proceed to Gangtey Gompa (2 hrs. drive) and admire
the beauty of the interiors of Bhutan. Enjoy your packed lunch in the valley
of Gompa. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 06 MENDEGANG-PARO
Breakfast - proceed to Paro via Thimphu. Lunch in Thimphu. Enroute
visit the Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of its kind and now a
religious university. Check in- Dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 07 PARO
After Breakfast the day begins with a visit to the Drukgyel Dzong
and on a clear day the 24,000 ft. white domed peak of sacred Chomolhari (Mt.
of Goddess) looms overhead. After lunch a visit to the National Museum,
housed in an ancient watch tower, which has a fine collection of ancient
Thangkha paintings, textiles, weapons and artifacts - short walk to Paro
Rimpung Dzong. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 08 PARO-DELHI
Early morning drive to Paro Airport for departure
